Joan talks about her childhood

her from moving forward.
Rudy offers the reasons why he left
Washington, D.C. for New York and how he first became aware of voice
talent by doing documentary films. He describes how switching roles with
a voice actor in order to experience their process has given him great
insights as a writer and director.
Joan and Rudy discuss how
their popular event THAT’S VOICEOVER came to be, what they get out of
doing the event as well as their strategy for creating an experience
that is both meaningful and beneficial for the attendees. They tell

Maurice
demonstrates some of his unique, warm up exercises he’s created and how
he executes his famous burp, like for Will Ferrell’s character in the
movie Elf and in Animaniacs. We hear the advice, fellow comedian Mike
Binder, gave him that’s helped him in his career to this day.
He
discusses the cancellation of Futurama on Comedy Central and encourages
people who love the show to sign the online petition to help save the
show, again. Maurice expresses his appreciation for the fan support and
hopes it will be picked up on another network or Netflix.
Maurice
tells how he became one of only a few voice actors to be the voice of
Popeye, reveals what he would do if he wasn’t a performer and shares
what he still hopes to accomplish in his career. He tells the story of
how he co-created “International Talk Like William Shatner Day” and what
William Shatner thinks about it. The episode closes with Chuck and

Stellar advice and tips about what it takes to make it in the VO biz.
Stacey
reads another great viewer email from Charlene in Seattle and Chuck
reminds viewers if they like the show they can support it through the
website’s SUPPORT page. Time to chat with the Emmy and Annie award
winning VO superstar, Maurice LaMarche, who engagingly shares how he
sometimes gets a little lazy about his appearance being a voice actor
and the benefits of being the spokesperson for Lexus.
He takes us
through how he made the transition from stand-up comedian to voice
actor and tells a story about his very first gig doing Inspector Gadget
with Don Adams.
Maurice offers advice and specific tips about
what he thinks it takes to make it in the business today, recalling that
it took him a year of auditioning before he booked his first job. He
stresses the importance of the relationship in any script whether it’s
for Lexus commercials or in animation like working with Rob Paulsen on
Pinky and the Brain.
He addresses the question of whether or not
he still auditions everyday and talks about his process of creating
characters. He shares how he records his multiple characters in Futurama
with fellow cast members Billy West, Katey Segal, Phil LaMarr, Lauren
Tom and John DiMaggio.
The episode closes with Maurice doing some
of his first, stellar impersonations of entertainment icons Peter Falk
and Tony Curtis and how the years he spent studying and perfecting his
Orson Welles impersonation changed the course of his career.

Lori
Alan offers some valuable marketing tips to develop and nurture
business relationships and we learn more about Lori’s approach to voice
acting coaching and what motivated her to start working with students,
one-on-one and in a group setting. Viewers get an amazing demonstration
of how Lori brings a character to life and she takes us through several
ways to create characters using real life examples.
She reflects
on the actions or patterns of behavior that have helped to keep her
going in her career and talks about doing Pixar movies like Monsters
University, Wall-E and Toy Story 3, with voice acting veterans Jess
Harnell, Laraine Newman, Mona Marshall and Danny Mann. Lori tells the
story about meeting Seth MacFarlane and landing the role of Diane the
Anchorwoman on Family Guy. She encourages the fans of the show to
resurrect Diane from her watery “death”. Come on guys, it worked for

Tip of the Week provides an easy way to get rid of clicks in your audio
tracks. Guest Lori Alan, voice of Pearl the Whale on Spongebob
Squarepants and Momma on Henry Hugglemonster, takes us back to how she
got started as a performer and voice actor. She explains how taking a
class with Charlie Adler and Chris Zimmerman changed her life and lead
to booking her first animated series, Swat Cats, with veteran voice
actors Tress McNeille and Frank Welker.
We discuss some of Lori’s
current projects like the new Disney series Henry Hugglemonster and the
process she went through to create her character in the show, Momma.
Lori offers some insights on the ways she’s gotten through the rocky
times in her career and credits taking some kind of class as the way she
keeps her instrument in good shape, as well as a positive attitude.
She
brings some of her favorite characters to life like Pearl, Diane, Momma
and The Boss and explains how using some of her real life experiences
helped her book the Valspar TV campaign. By taking the advice of mentor
Charlie Adler and some of her own wisdom, Lori talks about the skill

Director, Sam Riegel shares some of the things he likes and dislikes
that voice talent do in a session and the importance of having a good

Sam describes in detail the major
differences and some of the challenges of working in the anime genre
versus animation. Sam takes us through his process when auditioning for

audition should be sent.
We hear the story behind his experiences
as a member of an a cappella singing group in college and how it helped
him land a writing gig on the network show The Sing Off. He talks about
