EPISODE 293 - Chuck and Stacey welcome the ever talented voice actor and musician, Jeremy Shada, who you know as Finn in Adventure Time, Lance in Voltron and with his band, Make Out Monday. Jeremy talks about the impact of being part of such a cultural phenomenon like Adventure Time from the time he was only 12 years old. He shares some of the advice and tips he got from working with voiceover icons like Andrea Romano, John DiMaggio and Dee Bradley Baker. Jeremy tells how he got the role of Finn on Adventure Time and some funny stories of other auditions that didn’t go his way. He discusses how his character Finn has aged over time to coincide with his voice changing and recounts the experience of doing a Twisted Toonz panel that included impersonating Christian Bale’s, Batman. Jeremy talks fan conventions, what he loves about them, expresses gratitude for the people who support his work as well as some emotional interactions he has had with fans. She speaks to the changes in video game industry, what she wants to see in the future with respect to diversity, reflecting the world around us and embracing the acting process more. Andrea talks about interactive demo reels, why she wants to hear them showcase what the actor does best as well as the kinds of characters and dialects she needs for her projects. Andrea speaks to the skill sets that voice casting directors need to have to be effective and her approach to casting which is to find actors who reveal their humanity and truth. She talks about the creation of the video game Overwatch and Blizzard’s Entertainment’s objective to make an inclusive story that makes the world a better place. Andrea shares more about her early years and the series of events that led her to work as a recording engineer and discover the world of video games. She explains what stands out to her when listening to auditions and things that she doesn’t like about performance and audio quality. Andrea details the workflow of a new project with her colleagues at Blizzard and how it moves forward into casting it. She offers wisdom for actors wanting to pursue acting for video games that requires having amazing acting skills and a very versatile toolbox of talents to access.

EPISODE 290 - Chuck and Stacey finish their conversation with the wonderful Keythe Farley, voice over actor from Fallout 4 and Mass Effect, voiceover coach, VO Lounge creator and voice director. Keythe answers why he feels he’s an effective voiceover coach by focusing on storytelling, understanding different styles and allowing emotions to happen by reducing the resistance to accessing them. He talks about playing the roles of Thane and Kellogg along with his approach for creating the characters and the impact they have had on people. Keythe shares the inspiration for Bat Boy The Musical, which he co-wrote and directed, and discusses the things he still wants to do professionally as an actor and musician. He talks about his involvement with SAG-AFTRA contract negotiations and what improvements he hopes for as things move forward. Keythe offers some advice to himself and others which is to keep practicing, work hard and always strive to get better.
