EP 131 Townsend Coleman: Voice of The Tick, Michelangelo and TV promos

Chuck and Stacey welcome, Annie nominated actor, Townsend Coleman, known for promos for NBC, ABC, ABC Family and The Hub and in animation as the voice of The Tick, Michelangelo in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Corporal Capeman in Inspector Gadget.

He talks about how it all started for him as an Architect major in college, to working in radio and reflects on what lead him to move to Los Angeles 30 years ago which led to his first big break in animation. He shares the story of how he landed to promo voice job for NBC “Must See TV” that lasted for 16 years and what being a part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise as the original voice of Michelangelo, means to him.

Townsend talks about what his career entails now, auditioning daily from home and what voiceover work he prefers not to do. He addresses some of the changes he likes and dislikes in today’s VO business with respect to styles, technology and auditioning.
