Chuck and Stacey welcome versatile voice actor, Chris Fries, from
network promos, commercials, TV Narration and video games who shares his
inspiring story of persistence against all odds to work full-time in
the voiceover industry.
Chris talks about his beginnings in
radio, a career in government, then a series of fortuitous events
including a meeting with veteran VO pro, Scott Rummell, that would
change the course of his life. Undeterred by any obstacles, Chris talks
about his time working as a county jailor and shares the challenges and
setbacks he encountered while getting started that would prove to be
blessings in disguise.
He talks about his experience recording
his demo with Chuck Duran of Demos That Rock and offers advice to people
starting out in the VO business. Chris reflects on the moment he felt
he had gotten his big break in the VO industry and how his life
experiences gave him an affinity for doing video games like the Call of
Duty franchise with Gary Oldham and Kiefer Sutherland.
Chris
shares some of his current projects like Dead End Express on Nat Geo,
The Briefcase on CBS, ACE Hardware and Hyundai commercials and network
promos. He talks about his audition process, his strengths as a voice
actor and the value he has found from working with top coaches Joyce
Castellanos, Jodi Gottlieb, Marice Tobias and Huck Liggett.
