EP 258 Eric Poole: The Facts About TV & Radio Promo Announcing For Voice Over Actors

Chuck & Stacey happily welcome the amazing Eric Poole to VO Buzz Weekly. Eric is the co-founder and managing partner of Second Sense Creative Production Company, and former VP of Radio and Marketing Promotions at FOX. He’s won more than 40 Clio and Promax awards and is a published author. In this epic interview, Eric talks about the daily operations at Second Sense Creative that involves writing, casting, recording and producing promo and commercial projects. He shares some of the things he loves about his work and some of the biggest challenges he faces. Eric discusses the differences in tone and delivery between a radio promo read and a TV promo read, stresses the importance of being a skilled actor and storyteller and what he feels makes a promo read great. He tells a story about voice actor Chris Corley to illustrate his point about being nice and gracious to everyone you meet along the way in your career. Eric answers what he’s learned from modeling his former bosses and offers solid advice to talent about professionalism. He gives his opinions about ISDN, Source Connect and ipDTL as well as some valuable tips for promos and commercial auditions. Originally from St. Louis, Eric tells why he decided to move to Hollywood and how he became a VP at FOX for fifteen years.
