The skill sets and attitudes needed for being a successful voice actor.
Chuck’s
Tip of the Week provides an easy way to get rid of clicks in your audio
tracks. Guest Lori Alan, voice of Pearl the Whale on Spongebob
Squarepants and Momma on Henry Hugglemonster, takes us back to how she
got started as a performer and voice actor. She explains how taking a
class with Charlie Adler and Chris Zimmerman changed her life and lead
to booking her first animated series, Swat Cats, with veteran voice
actors Tress McNeille and Frank Welker.
We discuss some of Lori’s
current projects like the new Disney series Henry Hugglemonster and the
process she went through to create her character in the show, Momma.
Lori offers some insights on the ways she’s gotten through the rocky
times in her career and credits taking some kind of class as the way she
keeps her instrument in good shape, as well as a positive attitude.
She
brings some of her favorite characters to life like Pearl, Diane, Momma
and The Boss and explains how using some of her real life experiences
helped her book the Valspar TV campaign. By taking the advice of mentor
Charlie Adler and some of her own wisdom, Lori talks about the skill
sets and attitudes she feels are helpful for being a voice talent in the
business today.
