Thursday Jul 14, 2016
Serving the VO community in the name of Don LaFontaine.
Paul
Pape, co-founder of the Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab, talks about how
the original vision for the Lab came together to honor his best friend
of over thirty years and hear what’s in store for the future including
opening VO Labs in other cities. See the state-of-the-art facility in VO
Buzz Weekly’s Tribute to Don LaFontaine (Episodes 34 & 35) and hear
personal stories about Don from the four people who knew him the best,
Nita Whitaker LaFontaine, Joe Cipriano, Steve Tisherman and of course,
Paul Pape.
Paul reflects on what he thinks are the keys to his
career success and longevity and how he pays it forward to aspiring
voice actors. He poignantly shares words of wisdom from Don LaFontaine
that have helped him in his voice over career and life. He gives kudos
to voice actors who are giving back in a big way to the community by
serving on the Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab Advisory Board like Scott
Rummell, Randy Thomas, George Del Hoyo and Stew Herrera.
Paul
talks about the award-winning short film he created for the 168 Hour
Film Festival with Don LaFontaine and Josh Daugherty called,
Interrogation. Go to the VO Buzz Weekly Blog entry for Paul Pape for a
link to watch the film. He offers more information about the SAG
Foundation and the ways it serves the voiceover community, all
performers and the various charitable programs they provide. The episode
closes with Stacey and Chuck’s IF question, which gives even more
insight into Paul’s capacity for kindness and generosity and buttons the
show with heart and of course some humor too.
