Chuck & Stacey happily welcome the amazing Eric Poole to VO Buzz Weekly. Eric is the co-founder and managing partner of Second Sense Creative Production Company, and former VP of Radio and Marketing Promotions at FOX. He’s won more than 40 Clio and Promax awards and is a published author. In this epic interview, Eric talks about the daily operations at Second Sense Creative that involves writing, casting, recording and producing promo and commercial projects. He shares some of the things he loves about his work and some of the biggest challenges he faces. Eric discusses the differences in tone and delivery between a radio promo read and a TV promo read, stresses the importance of being a skilled actor and storyteller and what he feels makes a promo read great. He tells a story about voice actor Chris Corley to illustrate his point about being nice and gracious to everyone you meet along the way in your career. Eric answers what he’s learned from modeling his former bosses and offers solid advice to talent about professionalism. He gives his opinions about ISDN, Source Connect and ipDTL as well as some valuable tips for promos and commercial auditions. Originally from St. Louis, Eric tells why he decided to move to Hollywood and how he became a VP at FOX for fifteen years.

Chuck & Stacey continue their interview with fabulous actor, singer Deedee Magno Hall, voice of Pearl on Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe. She has performed leading roles on Broadway and in the national touring companies of Miss Saigon, Wicked and If Then and is the co-founder of the Mommy singing group, Mama Bares. Deedee explains her approach to doing voice over auditions and offers advice and encouragement to people wanting to pursue a career in voice over. She talks about how her strong faith helps maintain her family’s quality of life and why she teaches her kids to be grateful and always try their best. Deedee shares what she considers her hardest, most rewarding job and the things she’s learned from her tight-knit family. She stresses the importance of getting formal vocal training, what she does to keep her voice healthy and strong and discusses her definition of success. Chuck & Stacey are thrilled to welcome and interview talented actress, singer and super mom, Deedee Magno Hall. Deedee is the voice of Pearl on Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe. She has performed lead roles on Broadway and in the national touring companies of Miss Saigon, Wicked and If Then. And, ready for this... She was a member of the original cast of The Mickey Mouse Club along with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Ryan Gosling and Keri Russell. Deedee talks about being a part of the show Steven Universe which celebrates love and hope and how much she likes being able to share it with her own kids. She shares her journey of being discovered as a singer at only 11-years old that led to the Mickey Mouse Club, joining the female pop singing group, The Party, and then on to Broadway. She explains the inspiration for creating her own singing group Mama Bares, along with her Miss Saigon cast mates and Moms. Deedee shares info about her upcoming performance on September 15th, 2017 at the Ford Theatre. Chuck and Stacey continue their interview with respected kids animation coach Tony Gonzales, founder of Kids VO Productions in Los Angeles. Tony speaks to the expectations of young talent in the voice over industry and the vocal challenges young male voice actors face when going through puberty. He talks about how he helped his student, Zach Callison capture the voice of his character, Steven on Steven Universe and shares why he’s often called upon by networks like Nickelodeon and Disney to help actors work through vocal difficulties.
Tony recommends things like tea and Entertainer’s Secret spray, an industry standard and proud sponsor of VO Buzz Weekly, to help keep your voice healthy. He explains how his journey in acting began with theatre and improvisation, and lead to working in casting at Disney TV Animation. Realizing he wanted to work more closely with talent, Tony considered becoming an agent but was guided by respected peers to pursue his calling as a coach.
Tony talks about the importance of working with a coach that knows what the industry is asking for and the importance of knowing when you’re ready to make a voice over demo. He offers some lessons he’s learned that have helped him in his career, some of the wisdom he passes along to his students and their parents about working in the industry, and some things to do and to avoid doing at auditions or callbacks.

Chuck & Stacey are so excited to be chatting with Tony Gonzales. Tony is a highly sought after animation coach and founder of Kids VO Productions. In this interview Tony talks about the essential skills young actors need to have in order to work in voiceover coupled with drive, focus and a strong support system. He explains why he treats his students like professionals so they’re prepared for working in real life situations.
He speaks to what makes him an effective coach and director by instilling confidence, professionalism and knowledge in his students. He stresses the importance of knowing the industry and studying how the talented established voice talent work like Tara Strong, Grey Griffin, Maurice LaMarche and Frank Welker. He shares his strategy for helping kids perform to the best of their abilities and offers advice to adult voice talent who do kid’s voices.
He encourages talent agencies to have Youth Divisions to help casting directors have access to young talent when the project requires it. Tony discusses how his years working at Disney TV Animation have helped him develop an ear for hearing auditions that standout and making strong choices when interpreting copy. Tony talks about some of his clients and the journey they’ve have had, saying that some starting booking work right away and others took longer, but it was so worth the wait.

Chuck & Stacey continue their interview with actor/musician Zach Callison who shares some special fan interactions he’s had at conventions and why the positive message that the Steven Universe cartoon network presents means so much to him. Zach also giving props to show creator Rebecca Sugar and talks about a particular skill he has listed on his resume that has come in very handy and he shares his experience working on the Disney XD show, I’m In The Band.
Zach speaks to how he balanced getting an education with being a working actor and offers superb advice to other young performers about pursuing your dreams that includes being persistent, patient and always finding ways to make art. Zach shares his approach to studying the craft of voice acting in order to be ready for opportunities when they come with coaches like Charlie Adler.
Zach discusses his musical influences and the EP he wrote and produced that’s coming out soon on iTunes. Chuck & Stacey give a shout out to their friend and Zach’s convention booking agent, Jeff Zannini of Celebrity Talent Booking. This amazing episode concludes with Zach sharing what he wants to accomplish in his career as an actor, writer and singer.

Chuck and Stacey Interview the super talented young actor, singer/songwriter and St. Louis native Zach Callison known for his work in Steven Universe on Cartoon Network, Sofia the First, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, The Goldbergs and Just Add Magic. Performing since he was 7 years old, Zach shares how his career began and some of the pros and cons of growing up in the entertainment business. He speaks to how he handles the pressure, offers some advice to parents of creative kids, and shares the ways his parents have protected him from dangers that face kids in Hollywood.
Zach talks about his experiences playing Steven on Steven Universe and Prince James on Sofia the First as well as the challenges and benefits of puberty with regard to his acting and singing. He expresses admiration for his mentor, voice acting icon, Jess Harnell, and shares some of his current projects some of which he is producing himself, on the Zach Callison YouTube channel. He talks about how he approaches auditions and offers great advice saying, “Acting is reacting and voice over is not any different.” Comic Con.

Chuck and Stacey continue talking with the brilliantly talented, Emmy and Annie award winner, Randy Rogel, known and loved as a writer, singer/songwriter, producer, actor and pianist with select credits like Animaniacs, Batman: The Animated Series, Animaniacs Live and 1001Nights. Randy offers sage advice to those wanting to work in the entertainment business saying, “Never accept no from somebody who can’t say yes.” He stresses the importance of believing in your abilities, being self-disciplined and finding joy in the journey.
As a producer, Randy reminds talent that the decision makers want you to be good and be the solution to their problem, so be confident, prepared and know your craft. He discusses the differences between being a professional versus an amateur and why you need to be a fair critic of your work and continue to practice it over and over.
Randy shares the fun story about the special gift he received from Steven Spielberg and his process for when he’s writing music and lyrics for shows. He expresses where he finds inspiration for his writing and the role that the story and plot play in honest storytelling. Chuck and Stacey welcome the prolific Emmy and Annie award winner, Randy Rogel to the show. He is the brilliant writer, singer/songwriter, producer, actor and pianist known for his creative genius in iconic shows like Animaniacs, Batman: The Animated Series, and who is now appearing onstage in Animaniacs Live with Rob Paulsen, Tress MacNeille and Jess Harnell in performances around the country. If you haven't ha a chance to go see the Animaniacs Live you really need to, it's awesome.
Chuck and Stacey gush about having just seen the Animaniacs Live Show earlier this year in La Mirada, CA and Randy shares some highlights of doing the shows in front of an audience of fans from different generations. He tells some cool stories from working at Warner Brothers with Steven Spielberg, Tom Ruegger, and Jean MacCurdy on the beloved animated series, Animaniacs.
Randy sings the praises of the incredible voice actor, Billy West and also what inspired him to write songs like Yakko’s World. He talks about growing up singing and acting, graduating from the prestigious West Point Military Academy and the moment he realized he wanted to pursue his creative aspirations in film and television in Los Angeles. He candidly shares his challenging early years in LA as a writer and how one fateful meeting with a top Hollywood agent changed his course in life forever. Randy talks about the big break he got from Alan Burnett writing for television in Batman: The Animated Series and how he found his way to writing comedy and songs for Animaniacs made famous by Wakko, Yakko and Dot.
