Chuck and Stacey continue their conversation with the Voiceover Dynamic Duo, Grant George and Jessica Gee George, who offer tips for self-direction and breaking down a voice over script. They explain their process for submitting work and their approach to promotion and marketing strategies for getting in front of the people who can hire them.
Grant and Jessica discuss their ROI from marketing campaigns, being proactive about their efforts, and reference lessons they have learned from the book, Who Stole My Cheese.

Chuck and Stacey welcome the Voiceover Dynamic Duo, Grant George and Jessica Gee-George to the show. They uniquely dominate in anime, ADR casting and directing, video games, commercials, animation and radio imaging. Chuck talks about his longtime friendship and working relationship with Jessica and Grant who talk about the skills and behaviors that are needed to be competitive in today’s voiceover industry that include training in acting, improvisation and working with different coaches.
They share some tips and techniques for nailing the conversational read and discuss the keys to their career success and longevity. Grant and Jessica reveal some of their business strategies from finding a balance between working and having fun and believing in yourself. They answer if they would do anything differently were they starting their careers over.
They talk about their two young sons, The Boy Wonders, who are now working voice actors and give some advice to parents who have kids who want to work in the industry. Chuck and Stacey continue their conversation with successful actor and masterful voice over coach, Tina Morasco, who is currently the narrator of LOVE IT OR LIST IT on HGTV. Tina shares some great audition tips like looking for clues on the page and thinking like the writer and director. She talks about how her most recent Masters degree in Spiritual Psychology has changed her life and practicing the power of intention and love in your voice over work. Tina demonstrates a great tip for when you get stuck on words and gives some great advice for when you work with other voice talent.
She offers some valuable advice she was given along the way that is, “it’s more important to be interested than interesting”, and Chuck shares a related story about his longtime friend and voice over icon, Jess Harnell. Tina expresses some of the keys to her success that includes building and nurturing relationships, being conscientiousness and connecting to people on a human level. She talks about what it takes to be in the voice over industry today and the importance of training and studying the current trends.
She reflects on how she has navigated through challenging times in her career and why she strives to be passionate about other things and have a balanced life. Tina gives major shout outs to her former agent, Jeff Danis at DPN and her current agents, Jonn Wasser and Heather Vergo at Atlas Talent. Chuck and Stacey sit down with longtime friend, Tina Morasco. You know her as the In-show Narrator of HGTV’s hit show, Love It Or List It, have seen her acting in shows like Jane the Virgin and Castle, and as a versatile voice actor and dynamic voice over coach.
Tina explains some key aspects for delivering the “real, conversational read” and encourages talent to trust that the voice will follow when you know what your authentic intention is in the copy.

Tina tells the story of how she landed the Love It Or List It gig six years ago giving major props to her agent Heather Vergo at Atlas Talent and the amazing production team she works with, plus she explains the collaborative recording process for the episodes.
Hear her tell the story of growing up in New Jersey then onto working in New York City as an assistant and then full agent at William Morris directing celebrities like Alec Baldwin and Gilbert Gottfried.
And then going on to help Steven Arcieri develop an innovative voice over division at ICM in NY with clients from all different areas of the entertainment business. She also shares the life changing moment that launched her acting career and led to pursuing a Masters degree in Acting from Rutgers University.

Chuck and Stacey continue their PT2 interview with respected documentary, broadcast narrator, commercial, promo voice actor and master voice over coach, Thom Pinto who talks about challenging times in his career and how he overcame them. He offers advice for how to empower yourself to figure out what you can do to make positive changes in your career.
Thom shares tips for having success in the voice over business that include getting great training from different coaches, doing something everyday to advance your career from a phone call to an email and practicing on the microphone. He gives props to his former coach, David Lyerly and answers some things to watch out for when making a demo.
Thom asks Chuck about his experiences as a demo producer and adds some memorable experiences of his own working with animation icon, Cam Clarke and Lorenzo Music, the voice of Garfield and tells a story about his former student turned leading voice over coach, Dave Walsh.

Chuck & Stacey welcome Thom Pinto, one of the voice over industry’s top voice over actors in the genres of broadcast documentary narration, commercials and TV promos, Thom is also a highly sought after voice over coach. Thom explains some of the skills that a voice over talent needs to have to be a successful broadcast TV narrator.
He speaks to the role of the narrator with respect to complimenting the footage and being a team player. He describes the process he goes through when doing auditions and gives some tips like doing some research to find out who is producing the show and the network it is on.
Thom also talks about how many takes he gives plus a trick he does to showcase his range and offer options. Thom gives his opinion about what the “conversational read” means and some of the obstacles that voice actors face when they record themselves at home without the benefit of being directed. He continues with more sage advice about knowing when to accept or pass on auditions and reminds actors to, “Think visually, act vocally.”
Thom tells an anecdote about Maurice LaMarche and shares the reasons why he is coaching as well as his approach to it that uses his Colors of Your Voice technique. He tells more about his start in radio and how he eventually found his way to the voiceover business by getting a general audition at Hanna Barbera. Though he wanted to be a character actor, he accepted where the industry was taking him and listened to advice from mentors. He reflects on what he would do differently if he was starting his career over that includes taking improvisation classes.

Chuck and Stacey conclude their interview with David Hayter, powerhouse voice over actor in the Metal Gear Solid video game franchise and King Shark on The Flash, screenwriter of X-Men, X-Men 2 and Watchmen, and Director of the film, Wolves. David speaks to the challenging times in his career and the nine years he spent in in Los Angeles before he was able to support himself as an actor and a screenwriter.
He talks candidly about having the tolerance to survive in the entertainment business and deciding if the risk is worth the rewards you may or may not get in your career. His bottom line is, if it doesn’t make you happy, then do something else.
He shares some behaviors and habits, like being curious, confident versus arrogant, that have helped him succeed. And by staying open to new possibilities he was able to discover other talents he possesses as a director and producer. David explains the journey and timeframe he goes through to try and get a screenwriting job or sell a project to a Studio or television network. He expresses what loves about his career and the enthusiasm and passion he puts into everything he does. David reveals some of his upcoming acting projects like starring in the video game The Long Dark, and appearing at fan conventions this year in Hawaii, Washington D.C. and Toronto.

Chuck and Stacey are thrilled to interview David Hayter to the show. David is the screenwriter of X-Men, X-Men 2 and Watchmen, Director of the film Wolves and voice actor beloved for his role as Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid Franchise and also King Shark on The Flash. David talks about his early years of performing in Japan and Toronto before moving to Los Angeles where he landed a role working with Gordon Hunt and Mark Hamill on Captain Planet.
He expresses gratitude to casting and voice director Kris Zimmerman and voice acting icon, Jennifer Hale for helping him get the career changing role of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid franchise that he played for twelve years. He offers advice to aspiring video game actors and tells some “behind the scenes” stories of recording Solid Snake and also King Shark on The Flash.
He talks about his first screenwriting job, writing the blockbuster movie X-Men, and working with his friend, respected director Bryan Singer, who he thanks for launching his writing career. David shares his experience at the first screening he saw of X-Men and some highlights from writing X-Men 2. He answers how much of his career he feels was luck or strategy and the importance of being prepared in order to maximize the opportunities when they came to him.
