EPISODE 293 - Chuck and Stacey welcome the ever talented voice actor and musician, Jeremy Shada, who you know as Finn in Adventure Time, Lance in Voltron and with his band, Make Out Monday. Jeremy talks about the impact of being part of such a cultural phenomenon like Adventure Time from the time he was only 12 years old. He shares some of the advice and tips he got from working with voiceover icons like Andrea Romano, John DiMaggio and Dee Bradley Baker. Jeremy tells how he got the role of Finn on Adventure Time and some funny stories of other auditions that didn’t go his way. He discusses how his character Finn has aged over time to coincide with his voice changing and recounts the experience of doing a Twisted Toonz panel that included impersonating Christian Bale’s, Batman. Jeremy talks fan conventions, what he loves about them, expresses gratitude for the people who support his work as well as some emotional interactions he has had with fans. He explains how he has stayed grounded with having success at a young age crediting his family and close friends for their loving guidance and support, and the key role his Dad plays in managing his career. #voiceover #vobuzzweekly #voiceactingadvice

EPISODE 291 - Chuck and Stacey welcome respected voice casting director and voice director, Andrea Toyias of Blizzard Entertainment, who is responsible for epic titles like World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch and Starcraft. Andrea speaks to the skill sets that voice casting directors need to have to be effective and her approach to casting which is to find actors who reveal their humanity and truth. She talks about the creation of the video game Overwatch and Blizzard’s Entertainment’s objective to make an inclusive story that makes the world a better place. Andrea shares more about her early years and the series of events that led her to work as a recording engineer and discover the world of video games. She explains what stands out to her when listening to auditions and things that she doesn’t like about performance and audio quality. Andrea details the workflow of a new project with her colleagues at Blizzard and how it moves forward into casting it. She offers wisdom for actors wanting to pursue acting for video games that requires having amazing acting skills and a very versatile toolbox of talents to access.

EPISODE 287 - Chuck and Stacey welcome the two talented actresses who play Sombra and Symmetra in Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch video game, Carolina Ravassa and Anjali Bhimani. The two share how they landed the roles in Overwatch and why they feel it’s such an extraordinary game with its inclusiveness, diversity, range and complexity. They explain what a recording session for Overwatch is like and the joy of working with Blizzard voice and casting director, Andrea Toyias. Carolina talks about working on her animation demo with Chuck at Demos That Rock as well as the personal story of how she found her way to the U.S. to pursue her acting career. Anjali speaks about studying theatre at Northwestern, to performing on Broadway and then making the move to Los Angeles. They both discuss the ongoing journey of embracing their authenticity and uniqueness and the ability to keep moving forward despite the obstacles and setbacks. Anjali and Carolina reflect on advice that they got along the way that has helped them in their lives and careers.
