Chuck and Stacey continue talking with Vince LeBica, Commercial and Youth voiceover agent of DPN Talent Los Angeles. Vince discusses the concept of converting a non-union job to a union contract and why he tries to do it regardless of the project budget. He answers DPN’s stance on representing union and non-union talent and explains the downside of talent doing jobs that have “in perpetuity” buyouts. Vince gives some do’s and don’ts for talent to consider when seeking agent representation as well as the pros and cons of using social media to promote your voiceover career. Vince talks about what voice talent can do to help their agent with regard to knowing the industry trends and keeping skills sharp and fresh. He offers advice to people who may be in a career slump as well as some things he has learned from working with mentors, Jeff Danis and Kama Nist.

Chuck and Stacey sit down to talk about the business of voice over with Vince LeBica, Commercial and Youth voiceover agent at DPN Talent Agency in Los Angeles. Vince discusses some of the current trends for female and male voice talent in commercials and gives his take on the conversational and millennial reads. He talks about his process for pitching talent to buyers and the importance of sending in auditions that have both great acting and great audio quality. Vince shares some of his personal background and the series of events that led him to begin working in the voiceover industry. He answers what he enjoys most about being an agent and gives props to DPN owner/partners, Jeff Danis and Kama Nist.

Chuck & Stacey welcome Khary Payton, who plays King Ezekiel in The Walking Dead on AMC. Khary is also a super talented voice actor known for characters Cyborg, Black Manta, Aqualad, Wasabi and Rifiki in Teen Titans Go, The Lion Guard and Young Justice. Chuck and Stacey offer thanks to their good friend and talent manager, Jeff Zannini of Celebrity Talent Booking, for helping to bring them all together. Khary tells the story of how the choices he made growing up in Augusta, Georgia ultimately helped him land the role of King Ezekiel on The Walking Dead over 15 years later. He speaks to the emotional arc of the character King Ezekiel and how he prepared himself mentally and physically to play the role. He shares some sage advice he got from gifted actor, Phil LaMarr, for finding more voices inside of him, and tells how he got his first voiceover audition and job playing Cyborg on Teen Titans. Khary discusses his outlook on life and career, which is grounded in hope, optimism and inspiration and offers wise words to people for staying on track through the ups and downs of their chosen career.

Chuck & Stacey welcome bilingual commercial voice actor, voice coach, musician and producer, Alfonso Lugo. As the voice of Mercedes Benz, Burger King, Bacardi and Nestle in Mexico, Alfonso talks about the strategy and motivation he followed that eventually allowed him to move to Los Angeles to pursue his music production and voice acting dreams. He discusses the voice over opportunities in Mexico City and how the recording process differs from the General Market in the U.S. He talks about the way he approaches commercial auditions always trying to find the connection and authenticity to the campaign and what the client wants. He speaks to some of the trends and differences between the General and Spanish markets and encourages voice talent to remember that they are in the sales business.
