Part 2 with respected Commercial Voiceover agent, Sumeet Iyengar, of
CESD Talent in Los Angeles. Chuck and Stacey express huge thanks and

Sumeet talks about CESD Talent’s process for
signing a client, reasons why clients are asked to leave the agency and
his definition of the ideal client/agent relationship. He answers a few
viewer questions about agency referrals and how he likes clients to
handle when they get the same copy from different agents.
He
speaks to some common missteps talent make in their audition reads like
focusing too much on the sound and why it’s challenging for actors to be
real when they get in front of a microphone. He offers some valuable

Chuck and Stacey are fortunate to welcome top Commercial Voiceover
agent, Sumeet Iyengar, of CESD Talent in Los Angeles to the show. Sumeet
talks about his diverse background in finance and the entertainment
business, which ultimately led him to become a voiceover assistant, then
booth director and now talent agent.
Since he started at CESD in
2003, Sumeet explains how his role and job description has evolved and
offers advice for things talent should be doing once they sign with an
agent from training to following trends in the business.

things that voice actors need to know to make an agent’s life easier,
like having effective communication and demos that showcase current
styles and reads that are in high demand.
Sumeet talks about the
talent submission process for CESD Talent, how long he listens to demos,
what catches his attention and proactive things talent can do if they
don’t get signed.

talent should showcase on their demo and answers what he sees as the
current commercial styles and demographic demand for men and women.

Chuck and Stacey welcome 20-year voice acting veteran in movie trailers, promos, commercials and animation and singer/songwriter, Melissa Disney, who grew up in San Diego in a family of entertainers and musicians. She shares how her experience doing musicals led to voiceover and on-camera work in Los Angeles.
As the founder of the LA Voiceover Academy, Melissa offers some techniques for auditioning from being in the moment to believing what you’re saying and explains why she feels it’s so challenging for voice talent to find the conversational read.
She explains why she started the LA Voiceover Academy, answers what inspires her to teach and some of the most common misconceptions she notices that people have about doing voiceover.
As the first woman to voice a movie trailer for a major studio for, Gone in 60 Seconds, Melissa doesn’t focus on the male versus female talent aspect but rather just encourages people to keep their skills sharp and tell the story.
She talks about the first time she met her mentor and friend, the late great Don LaFontaine, and shares some advice he gave her that has helped her along the way.
Melissa explains her audition process, how she handles self-direction and moving on fast after every audition. She reflects on what helps her keep perspective about her career, life in Los Angeles and the importance of staying in a place of gratefulness.

Chuck and Stacey continue the fun and mayhem with voice actor, Roger Rose who talks about how he approaches auditions and the way his improvisation background helps him to tell the story, as well as the importance of trusting your instincts.
Roger offers advice to those who want to work in voiceover from building your acting chops, to recognizing that it needs to be treated like a business. He gives props to his talented friends and colleagues like Jim Cummings, James Arnold Taylor, Jess Harnell and Frank Welker and shares advice that he would give to his younger self about setting goals.
He tells more stories from doing movies like Ski Patrol, Friday the 13th Part VI and Comic Book The Movie. Roger recalls one of his most memorable projects, working on Batman: Brave and the Bold with director, Andrea Romano and actors Tippi Hedren and Kevin Michael Richardson.
Roger answers whom he would be an assistant to if he had the chance and does some spot on impressions of Christopher Walken, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sammy Davis, Jr.

Roger, a Chicago native, tells stories about growing up in a family of entertainers, an experience he had with David Letterman and Jane Lynch and another about his late brother ABC newscaster, Judd Rose.
